Worth knowing before you design
We ask for a slightly wider safe margin on business cards than on other products. The piece is small, and an off-center card is noticeable in a way an off-center poster isn't.
Thin borders are the riskiest thing you can put on a business card. Cutting tolerance is small, but on a 3.5" card even a slight shift makes a thin border look thicker on one side than the other. Go borderless, or use a border heavy enough that small variance doesn't read as a mistake.
Planning to write on your cards? Choose the 16pt uncoated. Pen and marker don't take reliably to a gloss coated surface. Uncoated also prints a little softer and darker, which suits a more understated look.
For maximum substance in the hand, 18pt extra heavy is the thickest we run.
